Done Self-seeking

Wow, my last post was December 7th... guess I should tell you all what's been happening in my life. Firstly, I had no job for the longest time. I signed up with a temporary placement agency but those jobs last 2-days at a time usually. Not much income. Finally swallowed my pride and went on EI, and then a couple weeks later my temp agency told me they'd found me a 6-month term job!

So now I am the Administrative Assistant at Westman Communications - the toughest job in the world, no wonder their last girl decided to go work at the hospital. I'm the replacement for the replacement they got! It's super hard work, so busy, but at least I'm never lacking for something to do.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

When I lost my job, Cody told me to take at least a week to just relax and to get to know myself. I thought it was kinda kooky, but it's actually been really good. I've done a lot of cleaning out (getting rid of junk that I'd been hanging onto for who-knows-what-reason), and today I had a revelation that I could really start taking care of myself physically, now that I have the time. So I've taken Sarah's idea and have started to watch what I eat, I have re-discovered all my fitness movies, and I'm going to start getting closer to God (and hopefully Cody will follow suit in all these areas).
I am a wonderful person, and it has been great getting to know me :)

Wow more negativeness on my blog, but I had to tell y'all that I just got fired from my job as Assistant Front Desk Manager at the Royal Oak Inn & Suites. Yah - not that I wasn't doing a good job (everyone who transfers there from the Vic gets fired or quits) - there was a lot of backstabbing, lying, miscommunication, and misinterpretation. Take all that and throw in the fact that a couple of the girls had it in for me (one literally came up to my face and basically said outright that she was trying to get me fired -- and this was in my first week).
It totally sucks, and I don't think the General Manager supports the Front Desk Manager's decision about this because:
1) He created this position solely for me - they didn't need an Assistant FD Manager, but he loved my resume and experience;
2) He purposely left before noon the day that she was going to fire me so that he wouldn't have to do it;
3) The only reason she did it was because she can get away with it, because the General Manager is done at the end of this month too.
That hotel is losing their GM, their Banquet Manager, their Asst. Banquet Manager, and they just lost their Asst. FD Manager (me)... going through managers like crazy - that's gotta tell you something. Bad juju over there.
But that's ok - cuz when God closes a door, he opens a window. I'm getting out of the hotel industry (good time to, why not?) and possibly jumping into retail again or office work. I love working with customers but I don't want to ever have to work nights again!! BLLAaaagh!!
So there, that's my story. At least I'm free now for all the Christmas programs.

Dangerous Disease

Most of you probably have not heard, but Sarah's and my Auntie Teresa has been in hospital for two or three weeks. She was originally in Hamiota, but transferred to Brandon when they found out it was more serious than they thought, and now she is in Health Sciences in Winnipeg. The doctors don't know what this is, or how it came about. My uncle and aunt own alpacas, which could possibly be the carrier, but other than that, they have no leads.

Please pray for my Auntie Teresa, and also for Uncle Brian as they go through this. Because it is highly volatile and contagious, visitors are not allowed (though Uncle Brian has gone to see her). Following is some excerpts of emails I've gotten regarding her condition:

- Her diagnosis is yet to be forthcoming and her case has all the doctors stumped. She had a high fever, vomiting, diarhea, breathing trouble, rash, you name it she had it. They have her off most of her meds - blood pressure, diabetes, anti-depressant- which will have its own repercussions as well, but they wanted to rule out drug reaction/interaction off their list.

- She has been transferred to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, and she is in isolation, since they still have not ruled out contagious/dangerous diseases. At this point they have two doctors assigned just to her case and have not come up with a conclusion (or at least they are not saying anything at this point....that means they either have not found the cause, or there is no cure for it, hopefully the former rather than the latter).

- The doctors are still stumped. She underwent a colonoscopy, a bonemarrow sample, and a multitude of blood tests. They said her colon wall is a bit swelled along with her spleen, and she has bacteria in her urine. But I was talking to the gastoinogolist and he said all the tests were inconclusive. Her fever still spikes, and she gets the shakes and chills when that happens. Still has her rash, and her face is peeling, which she is unhappy about.

Am I ever involved in a lot! I have Baca (bible study) Monday nights, am working full-time during the week, have singing practise on most Saturdays, Teens Breakfast club Sunday mornings, sing during church on Sundays, and then every 2nd Sunday afternoon have Suite Praise (instrumental). Not only that, but I signed up for drama for our Christmas play, and I'm on one of the church committees starting February.

Sooo much to do, very swamped. But I'll survive -- all these musical things are no problem because I love doing it. Music is my thing -- I live in a world of music.

Oh, and thank you all for your show of support on my new job. LOL the first day I was here I worked TEN HOURS -- managers get salary, non hourly, so I don't even get paid overtime. Aaaaugh!

Ok everyone, you better sit down. I just got a promotion today. Sadly, I have to switch locations to our sister hotel here in Brandon, but that's only because this awesome opportunity was not offered at the Vic Inn.

I am now Front Desk Assistant Manager at the Royal Oak Inn & Suites!!!!!!!!!!

That's right, I am a big cheese, a big kahuna, the Mistress of Power and Domination and the Maker of the Schedule. I finally will have the position to match the level of responsibility I crave. This is an awesome opportunity to prove to myself (and others) that I can do it.

Totally forgotten

Wow... After I shut down learnelvish.com (my baby!), I went into webpage withdrawl - I didn't want to replace my darling with another webpage. The pain was just too great. I had poured my soul into that website since April 2001 and now it was gone.

But then a miracle happened...

Just today I clicked on an old link and it took me to an exact replica page of learnelvish.com and I realized that it still lived on in my Geocities account!! That's right, my baby is alllIIIIIiivveEEE! I don't have my domain name anymore, so it's a tedious address (www.geocities.com/inehtra192) but who cares!! I don't need the public to visit it anymore - it's just a wee escape for me to go update it and be nostalgic as I surf through the many pages I built from scratch.
